Help preserve and restore New Zealand’s stunning environment when you volunteer with our New Zealand Conservation Project.
In this unique project, volunteers will have the opportunity to explore Auckland, New Zealand while working to conserve the country’s beautiful coasts.
Due to New Zealand’s geographic isolation, many ancient and extraordinary plants and animals have survived over the years. However, the country’s growing population has resulted in the clearing of native plant species. This has allowed many weeds and immigrant plant species to flourish and threaten the country’s coastline.
As a volunteer on our New Zealand Conservation Project, you will be involved in a variety of conservation activities along Auckland’s coast. Volunteers are grouped in teams of 10 and are trained on how to effectively conduct erosion control tests, collect seeds of endangered plants, maintain boardwalks, and plant trees along the coastline. Volunteer project locations will change bi-weekly, depending on where and when help is needed. Rotating project sites allow you to truly discover the vibrant Auckland region.

As a volunteer you will:
Conduct surveys on endangered flora and fauna
Perform erosion control tests
Plant trees and control erosion along the coast
Construct and maintain beach boardwalks
Restore habitat and heritage sites
Create and maintain walking paths and trails
