Teach English and make a difference in the lives of young men when you volunteer with our Teach English Program in Santiago, Chile.

As a volunteer on this project, you will be working with our partner organization which serves to shelter youth throughout Chile. Young men come to the organization due to abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or poverty in their homes. Our partners in Santiago give the boys a safe place to develop, live and learn. They also take great care that each boy receives the care and attention he may have lacked in his own home.

You will be teaching English to young men aged 12 to 19 in two boys' homes run by the organization. You will be providing the young men with a crucial opportunity to broaden their horizons and learn an important skill for their future--English. You will also have time to help them with other homework assignments or just to give them the attention that has been lacking in their lives.

As a volunteer on this project, you will see first-hand the positive effects that you and the local organization have on these young men.

As a volunteer you will be:
Creating lessons and preparing classes
Teaching both group and individual English classes
Helping with English homework
Helping with homework in other subjects
Mentoring students

“It’s amazing to work with children who don’t really have a home and who obviously in a lot of ways have been disadvantaged in their life. However, they look at everything in such a positive light that it really makes you reflect more upon your life and how you look at things yourself. I’m teaching them English and in return I think they’re teaching me about life.”

“My students at the orphanage were fabulous boys. They were very keen to learn, and also extremely caring and thoughtful. They had no money, but put their money together to buy me some local food that I had never tried! They also walked me to the metro every evening … I really miss them.”

Jae Lee
“Teaching was definitely my favorite part of volunteering. The interaction with kids helped to open my eyes and enabled me to help others in improving themselves.”
