Nurture
and care for young children when you volunteer with
our Infant Care Program in Santiago, Chile.
As a volunteer with our Infant Care Program, you will
be working at an orphanage and shelter for babies and
toddlers in the heart of Santiago. Often orphaned or
abandoned by their families, these young children are
placed in the protective custody of our partner organization
in Chile. The children live in the shelter until they
are adopted or placed with family members that can take
better care of them.
Volunteers in Santiago will be involved in the daily
tasks of caring for
babies and toddlers. You will feed, bathe, and change
them, and you will also play with them and give them
the one-on-one attention they deserve. As a volunteer
with our Infant Care Program, you will be filling an
important role in the lives of these needy children,
as well as assisting the hardworking staff at the shelter.
As a volunteer you will be: Feeding
the children Changing
and bathing the children Playing
with the children Assisting
staff in the maintenance of the shelter

“Working with the
people from Chile and helping others—it was a
great way to get to know another culture.”

“Being with the
children was my favorite part of volunteering. Seeing
them every day was such a joy—I will never forget
them. I also liked that as a volunteer, I felt like
I was a part of the community, and not just a tourist.
[To volunteer abroad] you definitely have to have an
independent spirit. Come expecting to be challenged,
yet come expecting the best time of your life!”
