Improve
the living standards of local families when you volunteer
with our Home Building Project in Chile.
For our Home Building Project, we have partnered with
our partner organization to construct houses for needy families
in central Chile. As a volunteer, you will be working
at our partner organization building sites in the poor communities
of rural towns and villages. Volunteers on this project
will labor side-by-side with local residents who are working
hard to improve their own living conditions.
Volunteers in Chile will be involved in both the planning
and construction of houses for families in need. Depending
on your capabilities, you will be able to help transport
supplies, paint, and do light construction. You will also
be trained in the skills necessary to build a house, including
how to use construction tools and perform the tasks at
hand. As a volunteer with our Home Building Project, you
will be able to directly aid a local Chilean family as
their dreams become reality.

I am privileged to
have the opportunity to help this family build their future.
I looked around me and saw a hammer, nails, rebar,
a saw, a measuring tape, concrete and a level. Then I
was struck by the importance that construction and collective
work have in changing someones life with the use
of these simple tools. |

The experience was
better than I had expected, because I never would have
guessed that we could have done all the work that we have
done. |

Our time here is
a story of storieseach rooting itself in personal
interaction and lessons taught, sometimes through words,
but mostly through actions. It is amazing how much can
be communicated with eyes and motions and how with so
few words, one can touch souls and be touched. |
