Improve the quality of life of underprivileged Brazilians when you volunteer with our Community Development Program in Rio de Janeiro.

While Brazil is bursting with potential, problems of discrimination, corruption, and lack of education have prohibited the country from rising above its advanced third-world status. Economic disparity in Rio de Janeiro is notoriously rampant, and the poor live just blocks from neighborhoods of extreme wealth and abundance. Those who reside in the favelas or urban slums live in constant survival mode, without the benefits of public education, health care, or police protection.

Our Community Development Program aims to build the self-esteem of these underpriviledged local residents, while offering them support and education. Volunteers in Rio can organize community excursions to museums and beaches, and promote cultural events and festivities, depending on the season. You can also facilitate meetings with women and teenagers that address topics such as sexual education, drugs, and violence. Additionally, volunteers can assist locals in the renovation and decoration of public areas. This helps residents pay more attention to their own community and feel responsible for maintaining the newly renovated areas. Your work will directly help people in-need establish ways to solve local problems and improve their quality of life.

As a volunteer you can:
Participate in education campaigns to inform people      about prevention of diseases, recycling, citizenship,      etc.
Help local schoolchildren and teenagers renovate      public areas
Promote workshops (dance, music, art)
Help arrange excursions for children to museums,      beaches, cultural events, etc.
Organize holiday festivities and cultural events
Facilitate meetings to address issues such as sexual      education, drugs, violence, pregnancy, the job market,                                                                             and healthy nutrition
