Volunteers on our Australia Conservation Project will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects in the following locations. Specific location and project assignments will depend on need and time of year.
Victoria
Work alongside park rangers to check traps and record data on mammal and reptile species.
Maintain walking trails and restore native vegetation at city parks.
Assist with landscaping and construction at a wildlife
rehabilitation center.
New South Wales
Work with primary school children, maintaining native gardens and creating a frog pond on school grounds.
Help plant and preserve thousands of native trees, shrubs and grasses along the riverbed.
Conduct land surveys and plant native grasses along the beach.
Queensland
Help enhance biodiversity and eliminate fire potential in parks.
Remove weeds to help support kangaroo populations.
Help decrease flood risk along an urban creek.
Northern Territory
Assist in the restoration of waterhole areas at a World Heritage National Park.
Work with indigenous rangers to monitor ant habitats.
Help primary school children plant native trees and plants.

South Australia
Work alongside a youth corps group, planting trees and removing invasive vegetation in forests.
Monitor an endangered lizard population.
Install boardwalks and pelican perches in wetland areas

Western Australia
Monitor endangered sea turtles along an 80-mile beach.
Create walking trails around a historic tourist lighthouse.
Work at a sanctuary, installing pit traps and monitoring wildlife.

Tasmania
Take nightly surveys of penguins along the coastline; restore penguin habitats during the day.
Assist in developing fire prevention plans in a rainforest community.
Work with community groups to remove invasive weeds and regenerate urban bushlands.
