Improve the health and quality of life of Argentina’s impoverished population when you volunteer with our Health and Wellness Program in Buenos Aires.
As a volunteer with our Health and Wellness Program, you will work directly with poor Argentineans living in the slums of Buenos Aires. Most of them have neither access to health care nor knowledge about basic health issues and sanitary practices.
This is a hands-on program where volunteers work with men, women and youth of various age groups to educate them on how to improve and maintain their health and that of their children.
Volunteers with our Health and Wellness Program will plan and give informative talks and presentations on such topics as AIDS prevention, birth control, personal hygiene, nutrition, sanitary food preparation, obesity, pregnancy, and more. Your work with this program will have a direct impact on the quality of life of many Argentineans as well as on generations to come.
As a volunteer you can*:
Give talks on various health issues for children, teens, adults, seniors, and pregnant women (including teens)
Teach youth about the importance of condom use for birth control and disease prevention
Distribute medical supplies to needy families
Run a blood pressure/weight screening booth
Write and produce informative flyers
Teach an exercise class (aerobics, stretching, yoga, dance, etc.) to overweight women
Organize and lead a walking club
Fundraise and collect donations of medical supplies and health-food products
Help community centers come up with first-aid kits
Develop special workshops (strengthening bones, nutrition for pregnant women, diabetes control, etc.)
* Exact activities will depend on time of year and duration of project.
