Make essential contributions to isolated Indian villages when you volunteer with our Build Rural India Program.

Despite India’s recent economic growth, the country’s rural villages remain much as they were two decades ago. Rural schools lack qualified teachers, and health care is often an illusion. Telephone service is rare, and electricity is a precious commodity. While one India is charging into the future, another is stuck in the past.

Over the course of 2 to 3 weeks, volunteers with the Build Rural India Program will work hand-in-hand with Indian villagers to advance community development and social awareness. This program is offered in Rajasthan and Himachal, two predominantly rural states in northern India. You will work in impoverished villages that receive little attention from government officials. During your stay in India, you will help uplift an entire village and you will be uplifted in return.

As a volunteer you can:

Repair and revamp day care centers
Patch up rural elementary schools
Renovate the houses of impoverished local people
Help villagers modernize local community centers
Motivate and organize teams of village children to clean local parks
    and streets
Promote hygiene and health care
Educate local people on HIV/AIDS prevention
